Hasmik Amirian
Founder & Teacher

HASMIK AMIRIAN, a native of Armenia, began her  studies at the age of seven at the Armenian Choreography Ballet School. She was taught by such notable teachers as, Anahit Ter-Gabrielian, Maxim Martirosyan  Ludimila SakharovaFeya Balabina (pupil of Agrippina Vaganova) and more.

At the age of 18, Hasmik joined the Armenian National Opera Ballet (The Theatre was founded in 1933 and was considered one of the best in the Soviet Union. The company is now called Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Theatre) where she rose quickly through the ranks and was promoted Soloist.  She performed full-length classical ballets in the company’s repertoire, including principal roles in Spartacus, Don Quixote, Ballet Gayane, Coppelia, Chopaniana and The Snow Queen. The company attracted many famous choreographers including Lavrovsky, Moiseyev, Anisimova, Sergeev, Bourmeister and Vinogradov.

In 1992 Hasmik immigrated to the United States. She performed as guest artist with companies such as Marla Bingham Contemporary Ballet, Nima Kiann’s Les Ballet Persans, Kalinin Dance Company, and in 1995 joined Los Angeles Classical Ballet as a soloist.

Hasmik is a Master Ballet Teacher, and has been teaching in Los Angeles since 1996. In 2002, she joined Marat Daukeyev School of Ballet (where she was appointed Assistant Director in 2007) until 2017. She then went on to start her own ballet school Amirian Ballet Academy which has been Awarded outstanding school and outstanding teacher by YAGP.

Through the years, Hasmik’s students have received invitations to top ballet schools and prestigious companies around the world, including the Royal Ballet School, the Bolshoi School, San Francisco Ballet School, Princess Grace School in Monaco, American Ballet Theatre School, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Hamburg and Dutch National Ballet, Ballet West as well as the Washington School of Ballet.

Hasmik is passionate about continuing to instill proper technique and appreciation of this creative art form in dancers of all ages. She currently is teaching select students around Los Angeles.
